What's new at the Book?
May 02, 2009
* Cleaned out a few dead links. There were less than I feared, which makes me happy.
* I hear that people are still getting enjoyment out of my old stories. This also makes me happy :)
April 15, 2008
* Nearly ten years ago, a friend made my first little website for me, holding "Possibilities" and the first chapter or so of "The Warrior, The Witch and the Nightmare", back then titled something terribly goofy that I won't repeat :). I've learned much about making websites (and hopefully about writing) since, and I'm only glad you can't see my first hesitant steps anymore - heh. Ahhh, the memories.
(the counter was reset during one of my moves, in case you're wondering.)
July 30, 2007 * Xandra's Model, our ill-tempered but well-loved cat Cilli, passed away today, at the age of nearly 20 years. She was with us for more than half my life; my parents' house won't be the same without her.
August 9, 2006
* Added a somewhat older short story to Original:
Survivor - Trading Places
* Yah, still here. Not writing though, sad to say. Don't let this update fool you.
March 22, 2006
* Thanks all who have tried my guest book - I assure you I read each and every entry =)
* Cleaned up the links section and removed broken links
December 14, 2005 * The guestbook is fixed. Hooray for speedy customer support! =) Why don't y'all give it a test to make sure?
December 13, 2005 * There is a glitch in my guestbook and I've had to disable it for the time being. I hope the error is fixed soon. Happy Holidays to you all!
September 29, 2005
* My Weirdest Day, V0.6 in the
NWN section.
Update to the module and the spoiler file. HAK is unchanged.
* removed the "Parts in Progress" links as there currently is nothing "in progress" about them.
Terribly sorry, but there you have it.
August 28, 2005 * My Weirdest Day, V0.5 in the NWN section. Please refer to the Module Details for more info. If you have downloaded before, you will only need to re-download the module file, not the HAK files.
August 19, 2005 * And then there was ... content!
August 17, 2005 * <clearing throat> All right, I might as well admit it - my writing has slowed to less than a trickle, although it's reared its shaggy head up enough just the other day for me to work out a few holes in one scene... Anyway. rather than let this site go to the dogs (WAY too much of my lifeblood here <G>), I've decided to add a new section, dedicated to a game I'm currently rather immersed in, Neverwinter Nights. This section doesn't have a lot of content, but it features the module I'm currently working on.
April 19, 2005
* Ahem... repeating myself but apologizing again for the lack of new content...
* Added a link to ICQ2Go to the Links/Chat section. It's a web version so there is no need to install any software
(except for the required plugin, I'm afraid)
January 10, 2005 * Happy New Year everyone! Sorry, I haven't really been inclined to write lately... just dropping in to let you all know I haven't forgotten about this site! :o)

August 5, 2004 * Added the prologue and first chapter of the rewrite of Worlds Apart, Book 1: Below. This is original fiction, featuring original characters with an original background. In short, this is not fan fiction anymore, but ALL MINE! Okay, and Katia's too, as she wrote it with me <G>.
June 24, 2004 * The Guild Of Tales, my chat room, has received a facelift. Go to SpinCHAT to get one for your own website, if you like!

Neverwinter NightsTM
Well then, this section of the Book of Tales is to hold tales of another sort, those that you yourself (or your character) have the power to steer. That is to say, I've recently begun building modules for Bioware's great game, Neverwinter Nights. If you want to find out what this is all about, why don't you jump on over to nwn.bioware.com.

My Weirdest Day V0.6 (beta) Single Player only LV1-2, by Verrath |
This is a story about a magic recipe that you stumble across, and how it can
help you uncover a mystic treasure. But of course, you have to find a way out of your own house first.... (This module is in an early beta stage, about three quarters complete but playable; look at the known issues) |

Notice on updates
Unfortunately, your saved games will not be updated automatically with the module. However, if you contact me and send me your saved game (Versions 0.3 and above) in a zip-archive, I will gladly see what I can do about porting your save to the new version. It's the least I can do for people willing to beta-test for me :-) Be aware though, that you may be missing out on new content. Check out the Module Details for info on the additions and changes.
Help
First of all: You need to buy the game, Neverwinter Nights, from
Bioware in order to
play custom modules at all. To play my modules, you actually need the Platinum edition,
(which includes all the expansions) or else you'll need to get hold of both the game's
official Expansions, Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark.
Also, once installed, you need to patch your game to at least version 1.66. Refer to
the Bioware Website for instructions on how to do this. Then, when you've played the
game end to end and are thoroughly addicted, come back here <G>.
Installing a Module: Once you've downloaded all the required files (see module
description), unpack them to some temporary folder, then put the file ending in .mod
into the "modules" in your NWN installation, the ones ending in .hak in the "hak"
folder. That's it, you're good to go! Launch the game, select "New", then "Other Modules",
and the module you just installed should be listed there.
If you have any problems installing, don't hesitate to contact me.
HakPacks: If you already have a Hakpack installed (such as the CEP) you do not
need to download that file again.
CEP: stands for "Community Expansion Pack" and is a huge set of extras for the
game - items, paceables and creatures that the original game lacks. It's certainly
worth having, and a lot of custom-made modules use it.
